Satisfactory results on tourism in Greece are found by the involved with tourism operators, despite the unfavorable economic situation.

The number of visitors the current summer appears slightly depressed, compared with last year, and turnover is significantly reduced, but the optimism is based on the ultimate tourism image, resulting in the closure of August, month in which it handled about half of all tourists this year.

Tourism destinations characteristics in the country this year record the preference of visitors to the islands and the change of their origin country, as the number of tourists mainly from the former Soviet Union appears increased.
