International Women’s Organization of Santorini (IWOS) is a non-profit, non-political organization, which was started in 1998.
Its aim was to form a group where women of different nationalities who live in Santorini could come together in friendship, to exchange ideas and learn about each other’s cultures. Through this awareness and unity, IWOS has been able to participate more fully in local community issues, particularly those relating to the family, women and environmental issues.
Members can participate in different activity groups such as the environmental group, the sports group, Greek dancing, Greek and English lessons, where skills can be learnt and ideas exchanged.
Various fundraising activities are held each year to raise money for local needs e.g. the purchase of equipment for the local health centre, as well as for international charities such as Doctors of the World and the Red Cross.
The 'Santorini Times' is a monthly newsletter published by IWOS and distributed throughout the island, with articles relating to local issues, the environment, health and culture. It is free and is supported by donations from its advertisers If you would like to become a member of IWOS, advertise in the Santorini Times, or communicate with us on related topics please e-mail us to info@iwos.com, or phone/ fax: +30 22860 23716.
